School Day Programming

Visiting EFEC is more than a field trip experience.  It is a hands-on, minds-on, learning adventure where students are interactive participants rather than passive observers.  This unique K-8 program is designed with you in mind, whether you're the student, teacher, principal, parent, or bus driver.

  • The program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. to accommodate transportation scheduling.

  • The program fee for 2005 - 2006 is $6 per student.

  • Teachers and chaperones are free.

  • The program is TEKS/TAKS aligned and the correlations are listed in the curriculum.

EDA is a fast paced, content packed 4 hours. Your experience will include

  • A 45 minute astronomy program in the UNT Sky Theater (active link)
  • A 45 minute simulated archaeological or paleontological dig
  • A 45 minute exploration of aquatic ecosystems
  • A 25 minute scavenger hunt for facts about native Texas wildlife
  • Up to 30 minutes exploring hands-on challenges in our exhibit hall
  • And of course about 20 minutes for lunch

The EDA program to delivers grade level specific lessons for up to 130 students divided into no more than 5 groups in a single day. Although the activities are similar in theme for each grade level the shows, lessons, and activities are unique for each grade. The program curriculum is designed to spiral K-8, but is flexible enough to accommodate a single visit.
