Northern Bobwhite (Colinus virginianus) |

The Northern Bobwhites by Alice Delaney The Northern bobwhite is considered by hunters to be game In their coveys not far from whence they came. All their life they will stay half a mile from their start, They will not go farther, nope, they will not depart. Insects to berries & not to mention seeds, Are the things on which this fowl feeds. In open country or pastures & even brush These birds during the day are busy eating this mush. But don’t think this bird is kin to the Dodo, They can be quite tricky especially toward foe. A great act they will put on when their nest is in danger, Faking an injured wing leads predators away by diverting the stranger! Their call sounds very much like their name Singing “BOBWHITE, BOBWHITE”, indeed it is just the same. Now, surely you didn’t know all this about the bobwhites So next time you see ‘em remember all we had to write!
