The Gray Fox by Alice Delaney A member of the Canine family, but he won’t say a peep, The gray fox has this great secret he keeps. Of all the canids (you’ve heard canines) this one’s special to see, For he’s the only one who can climb a tree! Small mammals, insects, plants & birds are found, In his habitat the woods, good eating all around. It is true we rarely see Mr. Fox with our eyes, He’s secretive; prefers romping around under night skies. When born these babies are really quite dinky, Weighing only as much as one little slinky. When grown, however, they get going very fast: 26 miles per hour he’s been clocked in the past! Lastly, his odor arising will put you in a funk… Indeed, the fox’s area is scented like skunk! In his territory we are sure you won’t want to stay, With a happy Mr. Fox left alone far away!
